Hands off UDF affairs, leader told

Mr Musalia Mudavadi has been barred by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal from interfering with the activities of the party of which he is boss.

The tribunal has also prohibited the registrar of Political Parties, Mrs Lucy Ndung’u, from acting upon and effecting, or recognising a list of new United Democratic Front (UDF) party officials that was forwarded to her by Mr Mudavadi.

Mr Mudavadi announced on September 17 that the changes in the National Executive Committee were in preparation for 2017 elections.

Thereafter, the former presidential candidate, Mr Jeremiah Kioni, Ms Petronila Were and Mr Kasim Sawa were accused of illegally and without justification, suspending the party’s national chairman Hassan Osman and others.

The tribunal lifted the suspension of Mr Osman and the executive committee officials pending the hearing of the case.

The tribunal issued temporary orders restraining the sued parties or any other person under their direction or authority from dealing, acting or undertaking any party activities on behalf of UDF.

The suit is filed by the acting chairman, Mr Wycliffe Oyondi, the secretary, Ms Caroline Muthoni, and the Nairobi branch women league chairperson, Ms Pauline Achieng’.
