UDF secretary: Musalia Mudavadi party to review Jubilee links

United Democratic Forum is reviewing its relationship with the Jubilee coalition to evaluate whether the partnership has succeeded, acting secretary-general Justus Kizito has said.

Mr Kizito said delegates would decide whether to completely sever links with the ruling coalition.

His position on the partnership has, however, been rubbished by the registered chairman, Mr Hassan Osman, who maintains that UDF-Jubilee relationship will remain.

The official told journalists at the party headquarters in Lavington that the review would not be held back by a few benefits gained by individual members.

“It was proposed by party officials that the relationship we have with the Jubilee coalition be reviewed. We are in the process of undertaking this,” said Mr Kizito, a former Shinyalu MP.

Early last month, party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Mr Osman differed over the withdrawal proposal.

A party retreat resolution signed only by Mr Mudavadi after Mr Osman declined to append his signature proposes: “The UDF withdraw from Jubilee coalition via gradual progressive political disengagement.”

But on Tuesday Mr Osman maintained quitting the partnership would be ill-advised.

“We have a deputy chief whip, several committee members and now four ambassadors nominated by us because of this partnership.
