Nasa principals in Kisii days after Uhuru tour

National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula will today tour Kisii region on a vote hunting mission, three days after President Uhuru Kenyatta left the region.

The duo are expected in Ikorongo, Nyaribari Masaba where they are expected to address residents.

The region is a hot spot for tribal clashes. Last year members of the local Kisii and their neighbouring Kipsigis community fought in the region leaving at least four people dead, several injured and tens of houses torched.

The Wiper party boss and his Ford Kenya counterpart will then pass through Nyacheki and wind up their tour at Tendere Primary School for a major rally.

“We will be in Kisii for the whole day to seek political support from the region,” said Mr Musyoka’s head of communication Dennis Kavisu.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, in their two day tour of the region, promised development goodies to residents.

Mr Musyoka will be welcomed by local Wiper leaders among them Kisii County governorship aspirant Lumumba Nyaberi.

Mr Lumumba, in 2013, vied the seat on a TNA ticket coming second after the incumbent James Ongwae.

He garnered 18 per cent of total votes cast while Mr Ongwae won with 66 per cent.

The two will be facing other candidates among them Kisii Senator Chris Obure (Jubilee) and Manson Nyamweya (KNC).
