Nasa roads lead to Kitengela for rally in bid to dispel fallout fears

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) will hold a joint rally in Kitengela, Kajiado County, in a bid to dispel fears of a fallout.
The rally to be addressed by the Nasa trio of Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford-Kenya) comes at a time of immense pressure and almost mutual suspicion of betrayal among the principals.
ODM’s Raila Odinga is in the US but will jet back on Monday in readiness for another rally planned for Wednesday in Nairobi.
Despite the continued assurances from the four that they were not going to break up, there has been increasing fears of irreparable disagreements in the party due to choice of a flag bearer.

“Nasa is a people’s movement. It is not built on personalities. We may symbolise Nasa but we aren’t Nasa,” Mr Mudavadi said in a statement on Thursday, warning against defections.
On Friday, Mr Musyoka described the rally as part of its continued bid to assure supporters of their unity ahead of the August General Election.
He was speaking when he received Tana River Speaker Adbi Nuh who wants to be governor of the county, to replace Mr Hussein Dado, who decamped to Jubilee last week.
In the meeting, Mr Musyoka warned against attempts he said were being hatched to scrap the Senate and undermine devolution.
“I get a panic each time I see headlines that MPs want to have appointed governors and scrap Senate. We must condemn such thoughts because devolution is here to stay,” he said.
Dr Nuh, a former Bura MP on the then ODM-Kenya ticket, also chaired the County Assemblies Forum, a powerful agency bringing together Kenya’s 2,526 Members of the County Assemblies.
“I will ensure that Tana River reaps the benefits of devolution once I am elected governor,” said Dr Nuh.
