The National Assembly has passed a motion that seeks to withdraw Kenya from the International Criminal Court.

A bill to effect the withdrawal is expected to the tabled in the House within 30 days.

The MPs' move to approve the motion comes just days before the trial of Deputy President William Ruto and former radio presenter Joshua arap Sang for crimes against humanity opens at The Hague.

Majority Leader Aden Duale introduced the motion in Parliament.

On Tuesday, Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso, through a gazette notice, recalled the House to discuss the motion.
