The chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations, Ndung’u Gethenji, is now asking the director of Criminal Investigation Department to investigate National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and other leaders from northeastern Kenya over their failure to name supporters of terrorism.

Mr Gethenji, who is also the Tetu MP, wondered why Mr Ndegwa Muhoro, the CID director, is not investigating Mr Duale and his colleagues after they assured Kenyans they would produce a list of financers of terrorism within 30 days yet now they have failed to provide the names.

“It is time they give us the list or else they will be asked hard questions about their leadership,” he said, adding that already Kenyans have started questioning their character.

Mr Gethenji said there was no way one would publicly announce that they will produce a list of those who are supporting terrorists then back off without proper reasons.

He was speaking in his Tetu constituency where he asked leaders from northeastern Kenya to cooperate with security forces in protecting Kenyans.

Former Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, Gen Julius Karangi, pleaded with Kenyans to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative so that they can help security forces identify threats and criminals.

“It is only through a such initiative that we will be able to fight terror in our country. The army and police officers can’t be everywhere, but we Kenyans can protect ourselves through volunteering information to the authorities,” said Gen Karangi who had accompanied Mr Gethenji to a burial ceremony.
