ODM cancels primaries in South Mugirango

ODM's National Elections Board has called off the nomination exercise in South Mugirango constituency in Kisii County after hooligans stole election materials.

The unknown persons attacked the lorry transporting the materials to the site.

In a statement sent to newsrooms this evening, Ms Judith Pareno confirmed that the board has begun investigations to uncover the culprits.

"The Board has launched investigations into the incident and warns that anyone who will be found responsible will be punished in accordance with the party constitution," she said.

She issued a stern warning against individuals involved in violence, saying the party would not condone them.

"The Board will not condone acts of hooliganism during the exercise, and will take appropriate action against all who are found guilty of involvement in such acts."

The polls boss said the board will soon give a new date for the repeat exercise.
