ODM leaders skip Okoa Kenya launch

  • Ms Millie Odhiambo (Mbita), Mr James Rege (Karachuonyo), Mr Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town), Mr Agostino Neto (Ndhiwa), Mr Oyugi Magwanga (Kasipul), Mr John Mbadi (Suba), and Mr Silvance Osele (Kabondo Kasipul) skipped the function.
  • The others were Mr George Oner (Rangwe) and Woman Representative Gladys Wanga missed the drive at Rose Muhando grounds on Thursday. 

MPs from Homa Bay boycotted the launch of the Okoa Kenya campaign in the county.

The function was organised by Senator Otieno Kajwang’, one of Cord leader Raila Odinga’s most trusted allies.

Ms Millie Odhiambo (Mbita), Mr James Rege (Karachuonyo), Mr Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town), Mr Agostino Neto (Ndhiwa), Mr Oyugi Magwanga (Kasipul), Mr John Mbadi (Suba), and Mr Silvance Osele (Kabondo Kasipul) skipped the function.

The others were Mr George Oner (Rangwe) and Woman Representative Gladys Wanga missed the drive at Rose Muhando grounds on Thursday. 

Friday, Mr Rege, the ODM branch secretary, accused Mr Kajwang’ of calling for the meeting without notifying branch officials.

“I did not attend because I was in Mombasa for serious parliamentary business,” he said.

Ms Odhiambo, who is the chairperson of Homa Bay Parliamentary Group, said she was not aware of the function.

“Whoever slotted the meeting on a Thursday did not want us to attend,” she said.

Mr Osele said the meeting was poorly coordinated.

Mr Kajwang’ said he was not bothered by the leaders’ absence because he had achieved his objective.
