Disciplinary action will be taken against ODM officials from Homa Bay County who masterminded the attempted ouster of Senator Otieno Kajwang’ as the branch chairman.

Ms Monica Amolo who was among those allegedly removed from the position of Branch Vice Chairman Thursday warned the officials saying they had notified Orange House of their action to oust Mr Kajwang’ without following the law.

Ms Amolo however did not clarify the nature of action proposed to the headquarters but said it would tame such errant acts in future.

Sub branch Chairmen Zachary Muga (Kabondo Kasipul), Juma Pete (Homa bay Town), Kennedy Marembo (Rangwe) and Evance Ndege (Kasipul) face stiff penalties which insiders feel could include expelling them from the party.

“I do not want to say what kind of disciplinary action that the group that also include Mr Jeremia Gogo Achila who is a national delegate will face. We have however notified Orange house of our intention”, said Mrs Amolo.

Her remarks came moments after those behind the ouster addressed a press conference at a Homa Bay Hotel where they reaffirmed that the fate of Senator Kajwang’ as branch chairman has been sealed.

“The fate of Kajwang’ is sealed. Our new branch chairman is former Rangwe MP Martin Ogindo and Charles Ongondo Were as his vice “, said Kasipul sub branch Secretary Omondi Otore.

Mr Otore, who read the press release on behalf of his colleagues, told Acting Party leader Prof Anyang Nyongo to keep off affairs of Homa Bay branch.

They maintained that their action to replace Senator Kajwang’ had been driven by the fact that his position had remained vacant immediately he announced interest in the position of National Vice Chairman.

“What we did was within the ODM constitution. Senator Kajwang’ had already relinquished the position of chairman,” added Mr Muga.

They gave the party Branch Secretary James Rege, who is also the Karachuonyo MP, a 14 day ultimatum to convene a Branch Executive meeting to ratify the changes in Homa Bay.

But Ms Amolo said the four sub branch chairmen and other party officials cannot purport to speak on behalf of the branch.

“Whatever action they have taken is therefore null and void”, she added.
