Mr David Ajwang’, the father of the Homa Bay senator, was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu soon after his son’s death.

He was taken to the hospital in the morning as news of his son’s death spread across the country.

However, his family denied reports that he had suffered shock on receiving the news.

Mr Timothy Kajwang’, an employee of Kisumu County government and the senator’s brother, on Wednesday said the father’s visit to the hospital had been planned before they received the sad news.

Timothy, who was at the family home in Mbita, said his father was diabetic and had complained of feeling unwell.

He said the family had booked an appointment for a medical check-up at the hospital.

He dispelled rumours that the father collapsed on receiving the news of his son’s death.

Kisumu County Assembly Chief Whip Isaiah Onyango, who is a relative, said at the hospital that Mr Ajwang’ was still being examined.

The hospital’s medical director, Dr Sam Oula, confirmed that Mr Ajwang’ had been admitted to the institution, but did not allow journalists to speak to him.
