Political Parties Dispute Resolution Tribunal has stopped the PNU from issuing certificates to winners in Embu County primaries.

The tribunal made the ruling in a petition by Dennis Mugendi, Jeremiah Njagi, Patrick Wilson and Simon Gitegua.

Their lawyer Apollo Muinde said the nomination exercise in Embu was marred by massive irregularities.

In another petition, the tribunal is expected to rule Saturday whether nominations will be repeated in Kajiado East constituency.

Two parliamentary aspirants, Mr George ole Kimiti and Mr Bob Muchemio Njagi told the Kyalo Mbobu- led tribunal that the returning officer has not announced results “to date.”

Lawyer Moses Owuor for the two aspirants and three MCAs Fredrick King’angir, Lydia Ngaira Odongo and Peter Atara alleged that none Maasai voters were turned away at polling stations within Kitengela.

Mr Mbobu, who is sitting with James Atemi and Abdi Hassan at the Milimani High Court heard that although no results were announced by the Returning Officer, the name of Kakuta ole Maimai has been published in a section of the press as having won the ODM ticket in the August 8.

The five aspirants wondered where Mr Maimai got the results which have been published in the media.

“There was no transparency at all in the whole exercise that was marred with glaring irregularities,” the tribunal heard.

The claimants told the three member tribunal that they have raised complaints with ODM National Executive Board of ODM on poll resolutions and no directives have been given.

They are asking the tribunal to nullify any poll results relayed to IEBC for Kajiado East until a fair nomination exercise has been conducted.
