Rachel Shebesh to push assault case against Evans Kidero

Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh has said she will push the assault case against Governor Evans Kidero to its conclusive end.
She however said the matter was under investigations and it would be unfair to dwell on it.
Ms Shebesh was speaking during a training session for senior police officers from across the country by Coalition on Violence Against Women (COVAW) at a Nairobi hotel.
The legislator called for proper structures to ensure the police were well equipped to deal with gender based violence and appealed for special police units to deal with such offences.
“I can now speak out of experience. I am a victim of violence and I am going through trauma after the violence. We must empower the security personnel to flush out this menace,” she said.
She added: “Reforms in the police service must be supported and as we support the Inspector General, there is need for the police oversight body not to be swept under the carpet.”
Dr Kidero slapped Ms Shebesh several days ago after a scuffle at the Governor's office.
The Governor later released a statement saying he was assaulted on the lower abdomen during the incident.
Ms Shebesh reported the incident at Parliament Police Station.
Dr Kidero had also made assault claims against Ms Shebesh at Central Police Station.
The politicians presented their doctors’ reports but investigators referred them to the official police doctor.
Ms Shebesh had obtained hers from Mbagathi Hospital while Dr Kidero sought his from Mama Lucy Hospital near Komarock.
