Cord leader Raila Odinga has accused the government of favouritism in resolving the conflict between owners of private ranches and herders in Laikipia County.

Mr Odinga claimed police were using force to evict members of the Samburu community occupying the farms.

Addressing locals in Baragoi, Samburu County, during a voter sensitisation drive, he urged the Jubilee administration of President Uhuru Kenyatta to implement the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report.

Mr Odinga also said the conflicts in Laikipia can be avoided if the TJRC report is implemented, adding that it addresses historical land injustices that have been a recurrent problem.

His visit comes a week after Mr Kenyatta's tour own tour of the same area. Speaking in Maralal, the President warned Samburu leaders against inciting herders to invade private farms in Laikipia.

He advised them that instead they should form groups and purchase land for grazing their livestock.

Mr Odinga later addressed residents in Maralal at Kenyatta stadium.

He urged them to register as voters and vote for the Opposition in the August 8 elections.
