Raila, Mudavadi in US for Clinton’s nomination

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga and his Amani National Congress counterpart Musalia Mudavadi have travelled to the US to attend the formal nomination of America’s Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton.
While Mr Odinga flew out on Saturday, Mr Mudavadi left the country on Wednesday last week for the nomination of Mrs Clinton who has high chances of succeeding President Barack Obama, whose father was Kenyan.
The former Prime Minister is expected to meet with US leaders on the sidelines of the convention.
According to a statement posted on his website, Mr Odinga will thereafter proceed to the UK where he will give a lecture at Chatham House in London.
“The lecture is scheduled for Friday July 29, 2016 from 12pm. The Chatham House lecture will be a public event and an on-record meeting with participants, which will include policymakers and senior business representatives, diplomats, civil society representatives, media, academics and other experts,” said Cord spokesman Dennis Onyango.
Mr Mudavadi’s spokesman Kibisu Kabatesi said the ANC leader would also be a guest at the International Leaders Forum organised by the National Democratic Institute, attended by all Democratic members of Congress.
Mr Mudavadi will be a panellist in the discussion of What It’s Like to Run a Presidential Campaign together with former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
