Eldoret North MP William Ruto on Thursday visited CID headquarters to complain about the alleged coaching of witnesses against him.

Mr Ruto drove to the CID headquarters and asked to see the deputy in-charge of the Investigations Bureau but later changed his mind and asked to see the CID Director, Mr Ndegwa Muhoro, who is out of the country.

The MP was then escorted to deputy director, Mr Futu Mwachai, who referred him to the Investigations Bureau where he formally recorded his complaint.

He left at about 2.30pm, about an hour after he drove into the CID headquarters on Kiambu Road.

Detectives on Thursday said that the MP was overheard saying on phone that he wanted to register a complaint against the coaching of some witnesses to implicate him in the post-election violence.

Mr Ruto on Tuesday singled out Kenya National Commission on Human Rights commissioner Hassan Omar Hassan and accused him of bribing and coaching witnesses.

Commission chairperson Florence Sambiri-Jaoko and Justice minister Mutula Kilonzo challenged Mr Ruto to produce proof of the allegations.
