DISSOLUTION CALLS

Speaking on Sunday at Mugona Girls’ Secondary school in Maara constituency, Prof Kindiki, and MPs Kareke Mbiuki, Charles Njagagua, Cecily Mbarire and Kimani Ichungwa said calls for dissolution of the county over the wrangles showed lack of leadership.

“The Makueni issue is no longer in the hands of the Council of Governors. The Senate has taken over the matter as mandated under the Article 96 of the Constitution.

“They (governors) should not confuse the failure of leadership by one person with the failure by county government as a whole. If one person has failed, he should go home. We want Makueni residents to benefit,” said Prof Kindiki.

The leaders also urged the Senate not to relent in their summons to governors suspected to having misused resources.

Tharaka-Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa who was present said he was not bothered by the summons provided they were not guided by witch-hunt.
