MPS' SALARIES

Among those whose salaries were reviewed were parliamentarians, the President and his deputy.

“Commissioners and the members of the county assembly will be able to consult on job evaluations for all State positions in the county governments as well as address and clarify the mandate of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, which is to set and regularly review the remuneration and benefits of all State officers,” said the statement.

SCR deputy vice-chairman Daniel Ogutu said the public sector wage bill for this financial year stood at Sh458 billion against the total budget of Sh1.5 trillion.

“Kenya has exceeded its expenditure as we are at 43 per cent yet by international standards it is not supposed to exceed 40 per cent,” noted Mr Ogutu.
