TNA wins in Makadara, Embakasi North constituencies

Former councillor Benson Mutura clinched the Makadara National Assembly seat in a hotly contested race.

Mr Mutura of The National Alliance (TNA) garnered 37,644 votes against former Nairobi mayor George Aladwa (Orange Democratic Movement) who polled 36,079.

Wiper’s Lindy Wafula got 7,456, UDF’s Consolata Kivuti managed 2,484, Narc's Anthony Koinange got 1,370.

Others were: KNC’s Patrick Angasa who got 1,204, Narc Kenya’s Grace Omondi with 660 votes and FPK’s Teri Hudson Mwarisha with 186.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer Florence Kwamboka announced the results late Tuesday night at the Aquinas High School - the constituency tallying centre.

In Embakasi North, TNA candidate James Mwangi Gakuya took the parliamentary seat.

He was announced the winner at the constituency tallying centre at James Gichuru Primary School in Dandora.

Mr Gakuya trounced his opponents after garnering 31,590 votes.

His closest rival, ODM’s Joan Otieno Macodawa managed 26,273 votes.

Jubilee presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta garnered 40,264 votes in the constituency while Cord candidate Raila Odinga had 30,661 votes, Amani Coalition’s Musalia Mudavadi got 952 votes and Peter Kenneth of Eagle Alliance had 232 votes.

TNA Senate candidate Gideon Mbuvi alias Mike Sonko garnered 39,863 votes while ODM’s Bishop Margaret Wanjiru got 24,672 votes.

TNA Women representative seat candidate Rachael Shebesh got 33,397 votes to lead the race.

Her rivals Sylvia Ming’ala of ODM and Esther Passaris of KNC got 15,916 votes and 7,844 votes respectively.

For the Governor race, TNA’s Ferdinand Waititu led in the constituency with 34,257 votes followed by ODM’s Dr Evans Kidero who got 28,843 votes and APK’s Jimnah Mbaru got 1,291 votes.
