ICC has all it needs in Uhuru Kenyatta case, says Githu Muigai

Kenya has maintained that the International Criminal Court has all the documents it requires for the case against President Kenyatta.
The court had ordered Kenya to provide the President’s financial records to Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda. That had not been done by Monday, the deadline set by the court.
Ms Bensouda had complained that her requests for the documents had been frustrated.
In a response to the deadline, Attorney-General Githu Muigai on Monday said the Hague-based court had all the information relevant to the case and that it was available on its website.
Prof Muigai is scheduled to attend a meeting in The Hague next week. A status conference on July 9 will discuss issues touching on the records.
FINANCIAL RECORDS
ICC prosecutors are seeking the President’s records such as bank accounts and money transfer statements for the 2007/8 post-election violence period, ahead of his trial that is scheduled to begin on October 7.
The prosecution seeks to convince the court that President Kenyatta spent about Sh50 million to finance the violence that left 1,133 dead and more than 500,000 displaced.
Mr Kenyatta was charged with crime against humanity consisting of murder, deportation or forcible transfer, rape, persecution and other offences allegedly committed during the violence.
