Uhuru calls for unity in East Africa

Combined training for military officers from the region’s countries would go a long way in strengthening the East African Community, President Uhuru Kenyatta said yesterday.

“The group of cadets commissioned here is not solely Kenyan; there were our brothers and sisters from Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi.

“This strengthens the already good brotherhood between our nations,” said President Kenyatta, at the Kenya Military Academy Lanet, Nakuru during the cadets’ commissioning parade.

He said military integration among East African nations was a show of unity meant to secure the region.

“It is a pleasure to see the sons and daughters of our friends. Your presence here has strengthened the brotherhood of our nations.

“I trust you will return home to exercise the skills you have learned here, and I am confident that the friendships established here will endure,” he said in comments targeting the soldiers from neighbouring countries.
