President Uhuru Kenyatta has been asked to quickly convene a meeting with chiefs of the three key arms of government with a view to addressing sensitive governance headache.

Senate devolution committee chairman Kipchumba Murkomen raised the red flag on Sunday saying there was a problem in the manner in which the Judiciary, the Legislative and the Execution arms carried their constitutional mandate.

“It has reached a time now when we want the President, the Chief Justice, the Speakers of both the National Assembly and his upper House counterpart to call for a round table meeting to chat a way forward and know when the national and public interest should prevail,” said Murkomen.

He said the biggest problem in the country at the moment was that everyone in the key arms was doing everything without knowing the “national interest” component.

The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator took issue with Judiciary judges whom he said had turned out to aid lords of impropriety.

“How does a court of law become a refuge for someone who has been found culpable of stealing from his own people?” asked Murkomen in reference to the Court overruling of ouster of Embu Governor Martin Nyagah Wambora.

A FEW TO BLAME

Speaking in St Patrick Secondary School grounds in Elgeyo-Marakwet during a joint Sunday service, Murkomen said the entire Judiciary was not to blame, but only a few individuals had spoilt the critical organ of State.

“We don’t condemn the whole of Judiciary but our problem is the few individuals who are misusing court processes and giving out injunctions to protect cartels and corrupt individuals misappropriating public resources,” said Murkomen.
