  • The projects include Konza city, LAPSSET, Mombasa-Malaba standard gauge railway, Lake Turkana wind power project and the Dongo Kundu free port

The Devolution and Planning Ministry is putting in place measures to help monitor projects implemented by the national and county governments.

Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru said this would enable Kenyans to monitor the progress of implementation of the projects.

“We believe that monitoring will enhance accountability and efficiency,” said Ms Waiguru.

The government has earmarked several projects for implementation in the second medium-term plan 2013-2017 after they failed to kick off in the first medium term plan of 2008-2012 under the leadership of retired President Mwai Kibaki.

The projects include Konza city, LAPSSET, Mombasa-Malaba standard gauge railway, Lake Turkana wind power project and the Dongo Kundu free port.

The government has also initiated Public Private partnerships to jump start projects that have failed to take off.
