What you need to know:

  • Mr Waititu said he is ready to face Mr Kabogo on August 8, promising him “a clean shave”.
  • Mr Duale reminded the independents that Jubilee has enough candidates across the country to sell the party’s agenda.
  • Mr Ruto said Jubilee’s only interest is serving Kenyans.

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale and Kiambu Jubilee governor nominee Ferdinand Waititu have told independent candidates seeking political offices and who support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta have been asked to do so without conditions.

The two were speaking in Mandera Town on Sunday where they had accompanied Deputy President William Ruto on Jubilee campaigns.

Mr Waititu, alias Babayao, mocked Kiambu Governor William Kabogo after he was voted the chairman of the coalition of independent candidates.

“I worked hard in Kiambu and floored someone. Now he is the chairman of the independent candidates but I want to tell him and his group that we don’t need brokers to vote in President Uhuru Kenyatta,” said Mr Waititu.

CLEAN SHAVE

Mr Waititu said he is ready to face Mr Kabogo on August 8, promising him “a clean shave”.

“Independent candidates have nothing to offer and I am ready to face their chairman on August 8 for the Kimabu just like I did during party nominations,” he said.

Mr Duale, speaking at the same function, warned independent candidates against issuing conditions to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

NO CONDITIONS

“They have the chance to seek positions as per the Constitution but they cannot give conditions to our Jubilee candidate,” said Mr Duale.

He reminded the independent candidates, led by Mr Kobogo, that Jubilee has enough candidates across the country to sell the party’s agenda to the people.

“If we go to Kiambu, it is known that our candidate is Babayao (Waititu) and Alice (Thika Town MP) and in Eldoret we have Mandago,” he said.

Mr Duale said the difference between Jubilee and independent candidates is as clear as day and night.

“Kabogo and your army, you cannot intimidate us since we are ready and orderly in our house,” he said.

Mr Ruto said Jubilee’s only interest is serving Kenyans.

“We have no room for people interested in sharing positions but we want to change lives in our country,” he said in an apparent jibe at Nasa leaders.
