ODM MPs on Monday accused the Jubilee administration of applying double standards in the war against corruption.

More than 10 lawmakers from the opposition party said failure by President Uhuru Kenyatta to act on two major scandals was an indication that he was not committed to deal with corruption in his administration.

Speaking at Orange House, the MPs led by ODM National Treasurer Timothy Bosire said the government should repossess the title deed for Weston hotel land, return it to the public and prosecute all those who grabbed it.

Deputy President William Ruto recently admitted that he has an interest in the hotel, which is alleged to have been constructed on public land.

The MPs also want President Kenyatta to suspend the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution Anne Waiguru over corruption allegations at NYS and order for a thorough forensic audit into NYS finances, procurement systems, curriculum and ethnic, regional and gender composition.

He said by stepping aside, Ms Waiguru will allow investigations to be carried out without any interference. Mr Bosire also said the government should ensure that appointments to public institutions reflect the “face of the country.”

Marginalised and minority communities should be given preferential treatment.

“Until these happen, we shall continue with our crusade against corruption and politics of tribalism,” said Mr Bosire, who is also the MP for Kitutu Masaba.

The party warned of unspecified action if the President will not act on their demands.

“Let us cross the bridge when we reach there. We cannot disclose what we will do today,” said Ugenya MP Opiyo Wandayi.

They also denied allegations that their war on corruption is aimed at winning the support of President Barack Obama who is set to visit Kenya in July.

Mr Wandayi raised concerns over tribalism in the government saying that no Kenya should be denied an opportunity to serve just because of their tribe.

He cited the appoint of Patrick Njoroge as Central bank governor at the expense of his deputy governor Haron Sirima, who they said was more qualified.
