We’re fighting graft, say Narok leaders

Leaders opposed to Narok Governor Samuel Tunai have vowed not to relent until he is removed.

Senator Stephen ole Ntutu who led MPs Patrick Ole Ntutu (Narok West), Korei Lemein (Narok South), Johanah Ngeno (Emurua-Dikirr) and Moitalele ole Kenta (Narok North) on Sunday said their fight is against corruption and they are not ready to give up.

The MPs who spoke at Narok Airstrip also demanded an apology from the government for their arrest and detention.

They also want Interior Cabinet Secretary Maj Gen (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery held responsible for the deaths and injuries during the chaos that have characterised the county for the last few days.

Mr Kenta accused the government of foul play in banning a demonstrations they had planned claiming the matter had been reported to the police in advance as required by the law so they could be provided with security.

“This is a fight we will not relent on. We must stand united against graft in Narok to achieve our development objectives,” said Mr Kenta
Mr Ntutu called for calm but accused government officials of sitting on crucial information that would have led to the arrest of corrupt officials.

This was their first public address since they were released on Thursday after a night in police cells.

MAKE PEACE

But as this was happening, Mr Tunai was out to make peace when he declared he was ready to dialogue with his critics.

Mr Tunai who spoke at Olorua Baptist church said: “ I am ready to work with all leaders from this county.”

He added: “It is in this spirit of brotherhood that we must hold together to unite our people. Let us work together for the greater good.”
