Wetang’ula rubbishes poll that put him last

Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has rubbished an Infotrak poll report that rated him last among the Nasa principals.

The Bungoma senator echoed his Wiper peer Kalonzo Musyoka’s sentiments, saying Kenyans do not vote based on a survey by pollsters but on aspirants’ manifestos.

The poll showed ODM leader Raila Odinga as the most popular at 68.3 per cent. Mr Musyoka had 13.1 per cent, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi 12.3 per cent and Mr Wetang’ula 2.2 per cent.

Speaking at a political rally in his home constituency of Sirisia on Sunday, the Ford-K leader accused the pollsters of creating a false survey to hoodwink Kenyans that Jubilee might retain power in the August 8 General Election.

“I’m not interested in pollsters determining my future,” said Wetang’ula. “I have the people’s trust and I believe they will vote me in even if pollsters survey say otherwise.”

The Senate Minority Leader said he was optimistic that the opposition outfit will unseat the Jubilee government. He said the survey portrayed Jubilee as the one to win but it will be Kenyans who will vote and not pollsters who conduct skewed surveys.

“I don’t trust in survey’s carried out by these pollsters,” said Mr Wetang’ula. “We understand their paymasters and how they sway the survey to show Kenyans that a certain outfit or individuals are ahead of others.

“Let the real Kenyans who need change show these pollsters that their survey could be flawed.”

Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi ruled out joint Nasa primaries in his Ford-K party’s home turf of Bungoma County.

“Let Nasa conduct a joint nomination in other regions, not in Bungoma, where Ford Kenya calls shots,” said Mr Wamunyinyi.
