Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki on Sunday criticised leaders drawing Deputy President William Ruto’s name into the current fight against corruption.
Prof Kindiki said the anti-corruption purge that has seen senior government officials step aside should not be compared with Mr Ruto’s case in The Hague.
He said Mr Ruto was charged with a criminal offence and not corruption or an economic crime.
“For criminal cases, one has to wait until a person has been convicted and exhausted appeal options to step aside,” he said.
He defended the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission officials against claims that they are not independent.
COMPELLING EVIDENCE
Elsewhere, Cotu secretary-general Francis Atwoli said he had compelling evidence against suspended Labour CS Kazungu Kambi.
Speaking at Mumbuni AIC Church in Machakos, Mr Atwoli thanked the President for suspending leaders suspected of corruption.
“Now the truth has come out. Let Kazungu Kambi carry his own cross,” he said.
In Kericho, Senator Charles Keter has urged EACC to be fair and truthful while conducting investigations on public officers suspected to have engaged in graft.
