  • Mr Ruto said no one will be discriminated against on the basis of tribe, religion, colour, or political persuasion under the Jubilee administration.

Deputy President William Ruto has reached out to Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and asked him to work with the government.

Mr Ruto, at the same time, said the government will serve all Kenyans equally, irrespective of their political affiliations.

The DP said the government was ready to work with leaders from Lower Eastern Kenya for the common good of the people of the region.

Mr Ruto spoke on Saturday while on a tour of Machakos County where he commissioned the Yatta Water Project, laid a foundation stone for Yatta Medical Campus and presided over a fundraiser in aid of university students from Yatta Constituency.

WILL NOT DISCRIMINATE

Mr Ruto said no one will be discriminated against on the basis of tribe, religion, colour, or political persuasion under the Jubilee administration.

“I want to assure all Kenyans that we will not discriminate against anybody as a government. Rest assured that regardless of the party you voted for in the previous election, this government will serve you because you are a Kenyan,” he said.

“Issues of election are over. No leader was elected by bad luck or by mistake. What remains is for us to unite and work to build a country that will better the lives of all its citizens,” added Mr Ruto.

He further said that the government is committed to fulfil all its campaign pledges made on the campaign trail to uplift the lives of all Kenyans.

The Deputy President said it was time for leaders to work together and forge a common development agenda in solving problems facing the people.

“We will ensure that all our county governments work with sufficient capacity to succeed because that is the only way we can take development to the grassroots,” he stated.

He told leaders to focus on development issues instead of misleading Kenyans, saying it was time for leaders to forget their political differences and work as a team.

“What Kenyans need is projects like the water we have launched today for irrigation. They want to be served by the government,” said Mr. Ruto.

He noted that just as the government respected their right to freedom of assembly and speech, the Opposition, too, should respect the right that the government has to its citizens and had the duty to engage in development of the country.
