Wiper MPs have dismissed a group of politicians from Ukambani, who have pledged to campaign for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MPs said the group led by former Kitui Senator and Wiper Party Chairman David Musila has no authority to speak on behalf of the Kamba community on political matters.

Led by Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, the lawmakers said they are the legitimately elected leaders and downplayed the move saying the region supports the National Super Alliance (Nasa).

“We are surprised by remarks expressed by election losers regarding the coming presidential election. It makes no sense for people rejected by voters to purport to speak on their behalf,” Mr Mbui said.

OPPOSITION

Mr Musila, former Mwingi West MP Bernard Kitungi and 18 politicians allied to Nasa from Makueni said they will support President Kenyatta re-election.

Mr Musila, who lost the governor seat to Charity Ngilu said Kambas cannot afford to be in the opposition for another five years and the logical thing to do is to support the winning team and be assured of development.

But Mr Mbui alleged that the leaders are seeking favours from Jubilee.

He said elected leaders will campaign for Nasa flag bearer Raila Oding and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu warned that they would not allow State officers to campaign for Jubilee in the region as it is against the law.
Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua said they would institute citizen arrest against such government officials.
