National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday described the Jubilee government as being on its deathbed and told its leaders to “begin packing”.

While on a tour of Kisii County, he maintained that he was in Nasa to stay.

“I want to reiterate here that I am in the coalition to stay and rumours going round that am not committed to it are false,” Mr Musyoka said.

The Wiper Democratic Movement leader said Nasa principals are united on one objective: dislodge Jubilee from power.

“These two leaders have messed up the economy even as our youth remain jobless,” said Mr Musyoka. “They have never created the half a million jobs they had promised.”

He said Jubilee leaders were treating the country to a circus by promising to undertake development in the dying days of their hold of power.

“What we are witnessing reflects a struggling government that has lost direction, that cannot be trusted any longer,” said Mr Musyoka.

The former Vice-President said as long as President Uhuru Kenyatta is allowed to be in power, poverty will be the order of the day.

He accused the President of insincerity in his promise to compensate the region’s victims of the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

“The Abagusii were caught at the center of the violence as victims,” said Mr Musyoka. “They never caused it, nor were they part to it.

“Somebody should stop milking cheap political mileage out of this and fast-track compensation for them instead.”

At least 15,000 people from Nyamira and Kisii counties are yet to receive compensation from the government following the post-election violence.

During his visit to Kisii last week, however, President Kenyatta said they will receive compensation soon.
