  • Addressing aspirants at the Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya office in Nairobi, Kalonzo Musyoka said aspirants in the party, the Orange Democratic Movement, Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya should be free to face one another.

  • However, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi said there was no disagreement in the National Super Alliance on joint nominations.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday ruled out the possibility Nasa affiliated parties conducting joint nominations ahead of the August 8 polls.

Addressing aspirants at the party offices in Nairobi, Mr Musyoka said that aspirants in Wiper, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya should be free to face one another.

“... We want to give everybody opportunity to present themselves to the electorate,” he said.

The Wiper leader reiterated that the opposition arrangement had what it takes to send ruling Jubilee administration home and that it was getting stronger by the day.

In a brief ceremony outside the offices, he received a delegation from Makueni County that had accompanied Governor Kivutha Kibwana who returned his nomination papers to the party.

However, on Tuesday, Nasa leader Musalia Mudavadi said that there was no disagreement in the outfit on planned joint nominations, which he said will be done only in exceptional circumstances.

“The planned Nasa joint nominations will be an exception, and not the rule,” Mr Mudavadi said at the ANC office on Tuesday.

Mr Mudavadi’s statement came the same day that Mr Musyoka of Wiper Party and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula unceremoniously cancelled two scheduled press conferences, at a time the nomination headache is threatening to tear Nasa.
