President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Friday disbanded the 63-member campaign team unveiled in November last year and asked all Jubilee aspirants to seek votes for them, in a desperate attempt to quell claims of bias ahead of competitive nominations.

“All Jubilee aspirants are members of the presidential campaign team. We want as you seek for votes for your seat, you also ask for the president’s re-election,” said Mr Ruto.

The duo further asked the aspirants to seek consensus and not “compete bitterly” in an event where the fight over the Kiambu governor’s seat reared its ugly head. Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and his fiercest rival Ferdinand Waititu faced out at the Jubilee event at the Kasarani Gymnasium on Friday as candidates demanded credible primaries.

Meanwhile, the Nairobi team promised sobriety with candidates Mike Sonko, Dennis Waweru, Johnson Sakaja, and Margaret Wanjiru vowing to arrive at a consensus on how to share the seats in a month.
