Pusetu served with restraint order over Labour Day fete

The Industrial Court has ordered Pusetu to refrain from interfering with Labour Day celebrations.

It further blocks the Federation of Public Service Trade Unions of Kenya (Pusetu) from causing any breach of peace on May 1.

Judge Monica Mbaru issued the restraint order on Tuesday after the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) complained that Pusetu had threatened to interfere with the celebrations.

The judge certified the matter as urgent and directed Cotu to serve Pusetu with the restraint order as soon as possible and other attendant court documents for hearing.

Cotu officials said they have taken over one year to prepare for the Labour Day celebrations and it "cannot be disrupted by an unconstitutional body or group."

Through lawyer Judith Guserwa, the union told the court that all workers have prepared to take part in the celebration without interference from any quarters.
