Over the recent past, the Kazi Kwa Vijana initiative, the Youth Fund and the National Youth Service (NYS) have been reeling from claims of corruption with millions of shillings allegedly being embezzled.

The youth lobby group has raised concern in the way cases involving the alleged misuse of the money are dragging.

The council chairman Dishon Atemo, while addressing journalists at Chester House in Nairobi on Sunday, said that the progress to recover the monies and assets stolen from different youth organisations had been unsatisfactory, hence the 14-day ultimatum.

“It is heart-breaking to see some of the individuals whose hands were caught in the till roaming [freely],” said Mr Atemo.

The youth council has said that they will also be seeking court’s help to get funds stolen from the NYS, Kazi kwa Vijana and Youth fund returned unconditionally.

“At the lapse of this period, we will rain brimstone and lime on all enemies of youth progress,” said the youth council chairman.

He also raised concern over the increased grabbing of land belonging to NYS from pioneer youth institutions s across the country.

He said that the council was engaging the National Land Commission (NLC) to secure these lands.

They said if justice will not be done the over 16 million youth in the country will defend their property and heritage by picketing and demonstrating.

“We are going to be aggressive sensitising the youth for them to understand what the government is putting in place to improve their welfare,” Said Mr Atemo.
