Shamelessly heartless thieves — electricity transformer raiders — have made life almost impossible around Kikuyu town, moans Private Mbuthia. In the past two months, he says, nearly 20 transformers have been vandalised by the crooks, paralysing vital economic activities. He adds that the thieves come from a five-kilometre radius of the town. “They have threatened all, including a local chief, with death if exposed. Their ring-leader drives a huge car and boasts that he takes no prisoners!”

At 8am on Limuru Road, over a week ago, Dr Richard Kuria Njoroge reports, a white Toyota car smashed into his vehicle from behind and a young man, “who looked drunk, phoned his mother, accusing her of having quarrelled with him that morning, hence the accident, got back into the car and drove off”. Dr Njoroge reported to Parklands police station, giving them the car number. “They are now looking for him. However, I’ve fixed my car and I do not want any compensation.” His email is: dockuria@yahoo.com.

As a measure to curb speeding and accidents on the roads, Joshua Omukhoko is proposing that the Ministry of Transport forces all public service vehicles to be fitted with LCD screens showing the speed, and which should be visible to the passengers and verifiable by police at roadblocks. Says he: “Since most of the PSV owners can instal expensive music systems and screens, requiring them to fit a life-saving speed screen should not be asking too much.”

Fresha Dairy sales and marketing manager James Gateru says they have noted the complaints about the non-availability of their products in Nakumatt stores. “It’s, indeed, true that the Fresha Milk 500ml pouch has not been available at the Nakumatt outlets for quite a while. We’re currently holding discussions with the supermarket chain, and our products should be back on their shelves as soon as possible. We apologise to our customers for the inability to get the products at their favourite supermarket, and hope they will be stocked soon.”

Not at all disappointed after watching the thrilling game Harambee Stars displayed against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Charles Kibisu is convinced that the change of coaches midstream is our undoing. Says he: “We paid cheaply to have Mathare’s Francis Kimanzi coach the team and it progressed to the last group stages. And after that, we paid dearly to have German Antoine Hey, who ended up making us lose our ticket to the African Nations Cup in Angola and the World Cup in South Africa.”

Of course, it’s not the core business of Nairobi’s Sarit Centre shopping mall, and Dilip Shah is disappointed that they insist on charging a minimum Sh20 for parking, from 6pm, even if one just drops off a passenger going to the cinema or a fast food restaurant.
“I dropped off my daughter and left in two minutes and was still charged Sh20. Is this not a rip-off, Sarit management? My receipt was No 0911172028480403, issued on November 17.” Dilip’s contact is Tel 0752888200.

Have a commensurate day, won’t you!
