Recent fatal shootings in Nairobi are a source of grave concern. The killers have picked their targets with ease, indicating that they could be well-trained hitmen. And the fact that some of the high-profile killings remain unsolved has put the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on the spot.
The latest casualty is a land dealer who was shot dead in his car on Wednesday night in what appears to have been a well-planned operation.
According to the police, 13 bullets were fired into the driver’s side and not a single spent cartridge was recovered from the scene. His passenger escaped unscathed.

Police deserve kudos for the speedy investigation of the killing that led to immediate arrests that seem to have given the investigators good leads that could unravel the matter.
Last October, a businessman was killed near the scene of Wednesday night’s incident. This, police say, brings to 20 the number of people attacked in similar circumstances. The police must do all they can to bring the killers to book.
