The ongoing secondary school Term One national games offer a perfect platform for talent scouts to identify promising players who will go on to excel at various levels.

The games, which end today at Nakuru Boys High School, have been very competitive and will see new champions in rugby, hockey, basketball and athletics.

There are also Term Two ‘A’ and ‘B’ games set for Nyeri and Machakos in May and August, respectively. Winners from all these championships will represent Kenya in the East African secondary school games.

The games have produced talented players such as national football team player Dennis Oliech, who have gone on to excel internationally, underlining the importance of extracurricular activities.

The games present a rare collection of future stars in one venue and coaches in charge of national teams and clubs should use the opportunity to identify them.
