Madaraka Day loses its lustre as tribalism reigns

On Friday, we will be celebrating Madaraka Day.

It is the day Kenyans commemorate the attainment of self-rule.

However, it is sad that we will be marking it at a time when tribalism is more pronounced than it was in 1963, the year we attained independence.

We are failing to rule ourselves, with no equality. The gap between the rich and the poor is widening daily. The elite seem to be above the law.

In most cases, prominent figures go scot-free when they commit crime. Police cells and prisons are only the preserve of the poor.
