For the last two months in a row, the prices of petroleum products have been reviewed downwards.

Yet the pinch is still on because companies are reluctant to review their prices in tandem with the drop in fuel cost.

Of major concern is the way public transport operators have refused to lower fares on various routes despite the huge relief from lower fuel prices.

Last year, Cotu and MOA planned a matatu strike to force the government to lower fuel prices.

It is curious that they have become conspicuously silent despite the review of fuel prices.
