We deserve some respect, Safaricom

Thursday July 9 2009

After a disappointing IPO, Safaricom is at it again. It says there will be no free lunch during its AGM.

I have an issue with the contention that AGMs “are not social events”. This view is snobbish; what’s wrong with mixing business with interaction?

Don’t managers routinely meet at leisure spots to do business while partaking of fun and food? Are ordinary shareholders lesser investors?

The firm should accord these small owners some respect.

Stop frustrating us and change your snooty manners.
