City potholes make me ashamed before visitors

Posted  Sunday, September 5  2010 at  20:33

I have friends who visited Nairobi after attending the World Cup.

They were shocked at the state of Nairobi’s roads compared to those in South Africa.

Driving down Brookside Drive to General Mathenge Drive via Lower Kabete Road, then onto Parklands Roads (Fura Sato Restaurant) and Eldama Ravine Drive, one of them commented that if Nairobi were to become a “hub” in East and Central Africa, the city council would have to provide basic services and repair the approximately 40 potholes we counted on this route alone.

I was truly ashamed of the council. It should make us proud.
