Good report on threat to Earth from asteroids

May I congratulate the Nation and DN2 for the excellent and informative piece on the threat to the spaceship Earth from asteroids and other wandering space bodies.

The graphics were most arresting and I was impressed that the procession of planets omitted poor little Pluto since demoted to a minor planet or whatever the expression is — too much on the disk in one’s 76th year!

It was also good that you made readers aware of the NASA project which tracks asteroids and other bodies.

However, the events at Chelyabinsk beg the question “What happened to the Early Warning System?
