Holiday tuition is a necessary evil
Posted Sunday, July 29 2012 at 19:25
I agree with Mr Samuel M. Mwangi (Nation, July 27) on the reason he has given for the holiday classes being a sort of necessary evil.
We can think of more reasons parents not only cooperate with the school authorities, but are grateful as well for the opportunity.
Most parents are out at work during the day, and the children have to be left home either by themselves or with the househelps.
In many places the facilities for outdoor games are limited or they do not exist at all.
Under such circumstances, all that the children can do is either resign themselves to boredom or get into some mischief.
