In terms of technology, there is nothing Kenyan about M-Pesa. The technology was not developed in Kenya but in Europe.

However, Kenyans allowed the M-Pesa concept to be applied in Kenya first. This depended on whether bank regulations allowed the concept to be applied.

Thus, we may say that those in charge of bank regulations were experimental and innovative in the case of M-Pesa.

The idea became a success in Kenya and is now copied the world over. Thanks to the bank regulators therefore, the M-Pesa concept is Kenyan.

abdulhakim, his point is; thanks to kenyan authorities(those people we keep deriding at length) the Mpesa was accepted and became successful; as such it is wrong to perceive the company that launched it for innovation!!!
