Nacada should lower amount it charges for liquor licences

Nacada needs to reconsider the amounts charged for liquor licence. Previously the fees ranged from Sh2,000 to Sh5,000.

This fitted very well with all other government licences because they are purposefully kept low to assist in compliance and reduce policing costs.

When Nacada got the licensing mandate, they raised the amounts charged to between Sh30,000 and Sh50,000 for relatively small businesses, an increase of about 1,900 per cent.

The much more visibly important Food and Hygiene license costs 500.
