After the jubilation that characterised the promulgation of the new Constitution, it is time to remind Kenyans that it is a new day and, therefore, they can operate in a freer, more secure, just and democratic environment.

To quote Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, Kenyans should be reminded that they are now free to move. Kituyi likened Kenyans to the proverbial chicken whose wings and legs have been tied up for a long time.

When time comes for untying the chicken, it will not move from the point it was tied until you push it. Kenyans are a perfect example of this analogy. While the new Constitution is assertive on the Bill of Rights, most people are yet to appreciate this and are still tuned to the old constitution which limited their rights and freedom.
