Many Kenyans have raised queries as to the wisdom of having two electoral offices at the apex of county government — senator and the governor. According to them the two offices are a duplication of representation that could be merged into one.

The senator and that governor have clear roles that do not in any way contradict. The Senator, mainly be based in Nairobi, will make laws related to county governments and check the central government.

The governor will attend to day to day running of the county and will be the chief accounting officer thereof.
