What you need to know:

  • Why did they not study fathers who rape their daughters?

Kenyan men seem to believe women get raped because they dress in a seductive manner (Nation, June 4).

They imagine women draw rape upon themselves by dressing that provokes men’s sexual desires.

These statements are a slap on the face of the women, especially those who have suffered the harrowing experience.

Did these researchers visit the beaches where foreigners walk with G-strings, yet they are not raped?

Did they meet Indian women in saris? Did they visit the Giriama in Malindi, the Pokot and Turkana whose dress traditionally covers only the lower parts?

Why do we have low rape cases in these areas?

Why did they not study fathers who rape their daughters?
