Do we know that while there was not enough security for the poor as they were butchered in the Rift Valley, there was more than enough for the big farms belonging to the multi-racial, multi-ethnic elites?

Did the Waki commission investigate this aspect? Building the nation means also changing the production relations that constantly churn out poor Kenyans all over the country.

As we start yet another journey in constitution-making, we have to revisit the provisions of devolution in the various drafts. It is only in having this issue reopened and resolved that that of sharing of resources and political power will be settled. We cannot imagine what will happen if oil is discovered in northern Kenya before the issue is put to bed?

Is this not another area of conflict? Have we forgotten that the project of partitioning Kenya was actually discussed during the post-election crisis? Both ODM and PNU had partitioning ideas that were debated.

It is crazy to imagine, but let us have no doubts in our minds that our political elite can easily take us down the route of Somalia and other nations that have had the curse to be ruled by greedy, corrupt and unpatriotic people.

The threat to our nationhood is real; it is both external and internal. If we do not resolve the internal one we will not be able to resist the external. Let us defend our motherland.
