In Summary
- Do you agree Kenya is a failed state?
- Is the country misunderstood?
- What are the solutions?
Kenya is 14th, right next to Burma, in the latest rankings of Failed States by the US-based Fund for Peace. This has triggered a major debate whether the peace deal that halted the election-related violence of 2008 marked the country's turn back to normalcy or for the worst.
The Independent newspaper of the UK discussed some of the issues in this article: Kenya's decline and fall. One major charge is that Kenya is suffering under the weight of a vision-less leadership that is single-mindedly committed to using corruption to fund-raise for the next round of chaos.
What is you comment, has Kenya joined the league of banana republics? Are commentators misreading Kenya? What is the way out?

We may have major problems to fix, but we are not a failed state. The best thing is ordinary Kenyans are demanding their rights, even children now sing the slogan..HAKI YETU.. when wronged. It's us Kenyans who should stand up and make Kenya a better place for us and future generations.

It is by no means a failed state.Politicians make every decision tampering with the judicial system, the police, name it.The political system is screwed up,it ensures that the President/PM,rewards and protect their cronies even if they engage in murder. The bottomline is that they deliver votes or deals.Ntimama,Moi,Sunkuli,Biwot e.t.c are still free even after years of orchestrating massacres.

Yes we are a failed state quickly chocking in political games leading us to total destruction. One day,we shall wake up with no water, air and even a road to lead us out of our houses. We plunder everything we build and neglect whatever we already have.Denying the obvious is acting like the proverbial ostrich.Policy is only on paper and not implementable. We are in decay and we all know what happens to decay.
